Obituary of Betty Emel, 89

Betty J. Emel, 89, of Bellefonte, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012. Born on June 29, 1922, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Quay and Viola (Worrall) Quay. In 1942, she married Homer G. Emel, who preceded her in death on March 29, 1974.
She attended school in Lewistown.
Betty worked in Food Services at Penn State University.

She is survived by Gray Emel of Bellefonte, Edgar Emel of Bellefonte, Steve Emel of Sumpter, SC, Mary Cingle of Clarence, Barb Bathurst of Howard, Sue Hilliard of Karthaus, step-son, Phillip Emel of Bellefonte. Also surviving is one sister, Bernice Shaeffer of Lewistown, 26 grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry Quay, two step-daughters: Dorothy and Ann, two step-sons: Richard and David, two sisters, two brothers and one grandson, Scott Hilliard.

There will be a public visitation held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Reverend Matt Finney officiating.
Burial will follow in Eagle Cemetery, Boggs Township.
