Obituary of Betty Hughes, 89

Betty R. Hughes, 89, of Bellefonte, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at her home.

She was born April 27, 1924 in Mill Hall, a daughter of the late Bill and Christine Fravel Mincer.

She was married to Leonard F. Hughes who preceded her in death May 12, 2006.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Bellefonte.

Among the things she enjoyed most were spending time with family, her cats Rocco and Sylvester, and shopping.

Surviving are two daughters Barbara Shilling and her husband Albert of Bellefonte and Connie Barger and her husband Jim of Centre Hall; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren; a step daughter Joyce Lewis of Trout Run, and two special friends Carol Mauck and Charles Johnson; and two special caregivers Lorrie Davison and Audrey Hanscom.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Arthur Powers.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 pm, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Church of Good Shepherd, 402 Willowbank St. Bellefonte, PA. The memorial service will follow at 2 pm at the church with the Reverend Frank Skies officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
