Obituary of Brett Whitman , 59

Brett Robert Whitman, 59, of rural Centre Hall, died Friday, September 26, 2014 at his home.

He was born September 20, 1955, in Lewistown, a son of Barbara Struble Whitman who survives in Centre Hall and the late Robert “Putt” Whitman

On September 6, 1975 he married Linda Gephart Whitman who survives at home.

Brett graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1973.

He was employed by Corning at State College for nearly 20 years and at Yarger Machining in Centre Hall for the past ten years as a CNC Machinist.

His memberships included Laurel Springs Sportsman Club and St. Luke Lutheran Church. Brett was an avid fisherman and hunter and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.

Surviving him in addition to his wife and mother are two daughters Mindy Tracy and her husband John of Boston, MA and Erika Whitman of Baltimore, MD; three grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan and Patrick Tracy; and a brother Craig Whitman of Centre Hall

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 pm Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C. 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA A memorial service will be held at 11 am Friday, October 3, 2014 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, with the Reverend Scott Klimke officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, W. Church St. Centre Hall.
