Bruce A. Long, 82, of State College, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 23, 1928, in Benner Twp., Centre Co., a son of the late Ernest B. and Lucie M. Snook Long. He was a self-employed scrape metal collector. He was of the Protestant Faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars.
He is survived at home by his wife the former Betty M. Lingle, whom he married April 25, 1992. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Rose M. Smith of State College; three sons, Ronald A. Long of Mercy, Pa, Bruce Allen Long, Jr. of Julian, and Michael W. Long of Clearfield; one step-daughter, Tammy L. Long of Bellefonte; one step-son, John H. Long, Jr., of State College; one sister, Marie Zerby, of Unionville; one brother, John H. Long, Sr. of Winburne; two half brothers, Chester Long and Adrian "Sonny" Mauk of Milesburg; 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Lou Hanley; one sister, Mary Snyder; and two brothers, Russell Long and George Long.
Services will be held at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, Pa, Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Harry Brotzman, Jr. officiating. Friends will be received Wednesday, January 5, 201l, from 12 noon until 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
