Obituary of C Eugene 'Gene' Dutrow, 87

C. Eugene “Gene” Dutrow, 87, of Centre Hall, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Born on June 3, 1930, in Potter Township, he was the son of the late Claude A. and Grace A. Stump Dutrow. On June 29, 1957, in Millheim, he married Marilyn Weaver who survives at home.

Gene was a 1948 graduate of Centre Hall-Potter High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He received the National Defense Service Medal/Marksman (Riffle) and Good Conduct Medal for his service before receiving his honorable discharge.

Gene was also employed at HRB as a Mechanist for 19 year and then was an Insurance Representative for Lutheran Brotherhood for 26 years before retirement. He was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Centre Hall and the Centre Hall Lions Club.

Gene is survived by his wife, and four children; Kenton L. Dutrow and his wife, Judy, of Bellefonte, Michele L. Wian and her husband, Michael, of Bellefonte, Ashley C. Dutrow and his wife, Kimberly, of Pleasant Gap, and LaDawn D. Benner and her husband, Kevin, of Spring Mills. He is also survived by grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.

Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by one sister.

In accordance with Gene’s wishes, all services will be private.
