Carol passed away peacefully in the company of family on February 29, 2016, following a lengthy illness. She was born December 29, 1959 in Bellefonte, PA, to Clarence B. & Alice P. (Keith) Eckard, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Robert J. Spicer.

A graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School (1977), Carol spent much of her career employed by Valley View Nursing home in Altoona, PA. In her spare time, she was an avid member of many fandoms, and spent countless hours watching and re-watching her favorite series and movies.

Carol considered herself to be an outdoors woman, and she enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the tall tales told the next day. She loved to cook, and she was not afraid of butter or white bread.

She had a heart of gold, even when she was pestering and badgering her loved ones.

“Aunt Carol” is survived by three sisters with whom she was raised; Barbara B. Gummo, LaRue C. (Joseph) Golemboski, and Paula J. (Cloyd) Scott, and several siblings whom, while far and away, were significant in her life. She was a doting aunt to many nieces and nephews, (all of whom believed that they were her favorite). She loved each with the smug knowledge that she could hand them back off to their parents after she’d filled them with sugary snacks and dirty limericks.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library, 1000 Pennsylvania Ave, Tyrone, PA 16686. A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. An online guest book can be signed or condolences to the family available at www.daughenbaughfuneralhome.com.
