Catherine P. Murgas, 72, of Clarence, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 20, 2014. Born on April 28, 1942, in Clarence, she was the daughter of the late David and Catherine Ludwig Drapcho. On June 8, 1963, in Clarence, she married Michael P. Murgas, who passed away on October 5, 2007.

Catherine was a 1960 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. She was a Professional Proof Reader for Penn State University, retiring after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence.

Catherine enjoyed reading, going for rides to camp, traveling, soduko puzzles, fireworks, country music, playing the slot machines and sweet things to eat. Of all of the holidays, Christmas was her favorite. She loved everything about that holiday, such as the lights, music, television shows, and decorations. Family was very important to Catherine, especially her children and grandchildren. She treasured the companionship of her dog, Lasce.

Catherine is survived by her five children; Michael A. Murgas and his wife, Kathryn, of Dallas, TX, Stephen D. Murgas and his wife, Cathleen, of Snow Shoe, Karen M. Murgas and her companion, Candy Butterworth, of Clarence, Jacqueline A. Cramer and her husband, Ryan, of Clarence and Melissa A. Butterworth and her husband, Robert, also of Clarence. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Michael Blaylock, Sarah Blaylock, Matthew Blaylock, Emma Murgas, Paige Murgas, Trey Butterworth, and Chelsea Butterworth, by one brother, Michael Drapcho of Clarence, and three sisters; Rose Kobularcik of Clarence, Patricia Hubler of Boalsburg, and Elizabeth Chakan of Cleveland, OH.
Along with her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Alyssa Blaylock, and two sisters; Bernadine Veneziano, and Gloria Swancer.

Public visitation will be on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 5-8pm with a rosary service at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11am at the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence with Father Mark Reid officiating. Burial will follow immediately at St. Michael’ Catholic Cemetery, Clarence.
