Charles L. Fohringer, 93, of Tusseyville, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born on March 22, 1918 in Nittany, he was a son of the late John and Rosa (Fisher) Fohringer, who resided in Colyer.

On December 18, 1937, he was married to Ruth F. Heisey, who preceded him in death on March 29, 1989.

Charles was an electrician by vocation and a farmer at heart. He was employed by Hartman Electric and later Klaban Electric for over 40 years.

He enjoyed gardening and helping his son, Carl, with a produce stand. He also enjoyed music and sang in the Centre County Men’s and Penns Valley Men’s Choruses.

Charles was an active member of the Colyer Brethren in Christ Church, where he held various positions and served on the Church Board for many years. He enjoyed spending time with the youth of the church and was well known for handing out candy after church, obtaining the nickname “Candy Man.”

Surviving are three daughters, Anna Ruth Smoyer of Boalsburg, Eunice Paraiso (Cesar) of Lilburn, GA, and Dorcas Summers (Nathan) of Centre Hall; one son, Kenneth Fohringer (Deb) of Fillmore; one sister, Naomi Swan (Harold) of Mahaffey; fourteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Carl; three sisters, Sarah Bogdan, Mary Catherine Fohringer, and Emma Fritzinger; and two brothers, Ray and J. Earl Fohringer.

Family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall and from 9:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Services at 11 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at State College Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1221 West Whitehall Road State College, with the Reverend Darrell Smucker officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Cemetery in Colyer.
