Charlotte Joan Huber Hitchcock, loving mother and friend, 84, of Pleasant Gap, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on September 19, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Sophie (Sakelares) Huber. In 1952, she married Douglas Joseph Hitchcock and shared 31 years of marriage with before he preceded her in death in 1983.

She was a 1951 graduate of Yorktown Heights Central School in Yorktown Heights, NY. After her husband graduated from Michigan State, she joined him working for the Addison, MI schools as secretary to the superintendent. Upon adoption of her daughter, she became a stay-at-home mom. As a stay-at-home mom, she was very active in the PTA and as a Girl Scout leader and in 1967, Charlotte was made an Honorary Member of the FFA Holland Patent, New York Chapter. In 1968, she returned to work to support her husband’s graduate work at Penn State. She worked from 1968 to 1996 in the Registrar’s Office at Penn State and retiring as the Graduation Coordinator.

Charlotte is survived by one daughter, Charlene Renee Hitchcock and her husband W. Charles Young of Pleasant Gap, and one brother, Raymond J. Huber (Effie) of North Port, NY, sisters-in-law, Patricia Hitchcock of Croton Falls, NY, Caroline Hitchcock of Hardwick, VT, Evelyn Huber of Pawleys Island, SC, one nephew, three nieces, one great-nephew, one great-niece. Also surviving are her very special friends, Frances Richards of Jackson, MI, Elenor Lawton and Emily McMannes of Corpus Christi, TX, Brian, Jennifer, Alex and Adam Shaw all of Nashville, TN, Daniel and Amanda Shaw Rial of Cookeville, TN and Rita Comly of Bellefonte.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
