Clayton C. (Clate) Schillings, 79, of Centre Hall; died Friday, February 27, 2015 at Mount Nittany Medical Center at State College.

He was born October 14, 1935 in West Buffalo Township, Union County; a son of the late Simon and Bertha Stamm Schillings.

On November 23, 1955 he married Mabel Houser who survives at home.

In 1972 Clate began his own plumbing and heating business in which he was still active until very recently. Clate was unusually gifted in being able to find solutions to plumbing and mechanical challenges, that to others, did not seem to have a solution.

Mr. Schillings was a member of Calvary Bible Church. He was an avid farmer and enjoyed farming as a vocation and a hobby.

Surviving Clate in addition to his wife are three children; Linda M. Stephens (E. Thomas Stephens), James A. Schillings (Christine), and Mary Jo Schillings all of Centre Hall; two grandchildren Amanda Stephens Ruth (Justin), and Ashley Stephens; and three step grandchildren, Mike, Matt, and Nick.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother John Schillings.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 pm Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service P. C. 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family with Pastor Richard Gilbaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, West Church St., Centre Hall, PA.
