Obituary of Connie M. Zies, 49

Connie M. Zies, 49, of Newport, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 29, 2010.

She was born Jan. 9, 1961, in Bellefonte to Earl and Ethel (Grove) Hoy. She worked for the Dauphin County Office of the PA Dept. of Welfare and was a member of the Red Hill Church of God and Newport VFW. She was a collector of frogs and decorative tins and was an avid covered bridge enthusiast. Her greatest pleasure was being with her family.

Connie is survived by her husband, Larry G. Zies; parents, Earl and Ethel (Grove) Hoy, of Pleasant Gap; son, Chad Zies and fiance Crystal Dilts, of Easton; daughters, Roseann Briere, of Texas, Stephanie Matt, of Pittston, Amanda Zies, of Newport; brother, Harold (Shelby) Hoy, of Pa. Furnace; sisters, Helen (Dave) Packer, of Pleasant Gap, Nancy (Dave) Masullo, of Centre Hall, Judy (Byron) Brown, of Bellefonte, Hope (Joe) Wenzel, of Pleasant Gap, Rachel (Jim) Unger, of State College, Denise Geissinger, of Bellefonte; grandchildren, Michael Matt Jr. and Courtney Ethel Zies; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Michael Matt Sr.

Services will be held on Tuesday from the Family Life Center, 27 West Shortcut Road, Newport, with a viewing from 11-1 p.m. and the funeral at 1 p.m. with Mary Kay Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to David Myers Funeral Home, Newport, to assist with funeral expenses.
