onstance M. McCay, 65, of Pine Grove Mills, Pa., died Sunday, September 20, 2009 of a cardiac arrest in her home.
She was born the youngest daughter to the late Donald L. and Mildred (Eisley) McCay of Weatherly, Pa. There she graduated valedictorian of Weatherly High School in 1962 before attending Penn State.
After marrying and raising her daughter Elizabeth in Baltimore, Constance earned her Bachelors from Excelsior College. Constance worked in accounting for many years, earning her Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification before retiring and moving to Pine Grove Mills in 2002. Although she was forced to retire due to various disabilities, she enjoyed her time in Pine Grove Mills, particularly volunteering to man the raffle ticket booth at the annual garden sale as her health permitted. She also enjoyed gourmet cooking, keeping current on local and national affairs and reading history.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth J. Pyatt, Ph.D., of Pine Grove Mills, her sister Jane Malatesta, of Boston, Mass., her aunt Mary Miller, of Franklin Square, N.Y., her cousin Marilyn Waibel, of Williston Park, N.Y. and her corgi Glyndwr.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Carl Campbell officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Food Bank of the State College Area, 276 West Hamilton Avenue, State College PA 16801, a chapter of Second Harvest or any local food bank.
