Obituary of Daniel F. Kerstetter, 86

Daniel F. Kerstetter, 86, of Lewisburg, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at his home.

Daniel, a son of the late Wilmer and Cora Auman Kerstetter, was born April 5, 1923, in Penn Township. He was a 1940 graduate of Northumberland High School. On Sept. 13, 1941, Daniel married Helen K. Jordan. Mrs. Kerstetter preceded Daniel in death on Sept. 22, 2004. Daniel began his employment history with the Pennsylvania Railroad after he graduated from high school. Daniel volunteered to serve his country in the U.S. Navy and did so in World War II. He was last employed for 18 years in Syracuse, N.Y. as a master cabinet maker along with his son.

Daniel enjoyed traveling, photography and he was also a history buff. He even wrote his own book titled "Memories" that tells his life story.

Daniel is survived by one son, Daniel J. Kerstetter, of Lewisburg, and one daughter, Margaret L. Southard, of Cleveland, N.Y. Also surviving are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Daniel was the last of his generation; his seven siblings, Eva, Eda, John, Sarah, Florence, Edna and Zula having all preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, Millheim. Funeral services will follow immediately at 1 p.m. with Pastor Cass Harbach officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Millheim. Military honors will be provided by the Millheim Legion Post 444. Memorial contributions in Daniel's memory may be given to the State College Food Bank, 276 W. Hamilton Ave., State College, PA 16801.
