Obituary of David Peters, 83

David G. Peters, 83, of Bellefonte, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte. He was born July 16, 1929, in Fleming, son of the late Pierce E. and Estella Bruss Peters. David was a Security Police at Penn State University and he also was employed by Hobart at William Smith College. He was of the Methodist Faith. Dave enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Milesburg American Legion Post #893, The Fraternal Order of Eagles of Bellefonte, Undine Fire Co #2 of Bellefonte, Clarence Moose #1565, Snow Shoe V.F.W. # 5644, Young Democratic Club of Clarence, Three Point Sportsman Club and President of The "OOPS" Club and he was also a member of Central Bald Eagle Fish & Game Association. He is survived by four daughters, Glenda Houser, Brenda (Dennis) Johnstonbaugh, both of Bellefonte, Betty (Paul) Brubaker, of Milesburg and Janet Lowery, of Bellefonte; three sons, James E. (Christine) Peters, of Wingate, Barry L. (Beth) Peters, of Lewistown, and John F. Peters and his companion, Lorraine, of Geneva, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one sister, Velma Kay Peters, of Indiana. He is also survived by his former wife, Hazel M. Grove Peters, of Bellefonte and his best friend, Terry Kerstetter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Veren Melville Peters, Louis Peters, and Pierce E. Peters Jr.; and his hunting dog, Jake. Services will be held at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Calvin Miller officiating. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 2, 2013, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Union Township. Arrangements are under the direction of Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg.
