Deanna “Dee Dee” G. Rockey, 66, of Centre Hall, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at her home.

She was born January 18, 1946, in Centre Hall, a daughter of Mildred L. Searfoss of Centre Hall and the late Thomas R. Searfoss Sr.

Dee Dee graduated from Penns Valley Area High School in 1964 and went on to earn her LPN certificate and license. She was employed as a nurse at Centre Community Hospital, now Mt. Nittany Medical Center, from 1969 until her retirement in 1994. Following her retirement she worked part time for several years at Giant Food Stores, until her retirement from that position in April 2012.

Dee Dee was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall, where she was an active and faithful member of the choir. She enjoyed working with flowers, reading, listening to music, day trips, and was perhaps at her happiest when she was spending time with her granddaughter, by whom she was known as “Nana.”

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Amy R. DuBois and her husband Wyatt of Cleveland, Ohio, and Kathleen G. Rockey and her fiance Matthew Auman of Boalsburg; one son, Jason Rockey of Port Matilda; a granddaughter, Zoe DuBois; two sisters, Mona L. Dutrow and her husband Warren of Beaver Springs, and Shirley Ann Schubert and her husband Jim of Leesburg, Fla.; one brother, the Reverend Thomas R. Searfoss Jr. and his wife Georgene of rural Spring Mills; her friend, Dick Delaney of Centre Hall; her former husband Ralph Rockey, of Port Matilda; and her cat, Sady.

Friends will be received from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2012, at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall. A memorial service will follow immediately at 7:00 p.m. at the church, with the Reverend Judith Hulslander and the Reverend Thomas R. Searfoss Jr., her brother, officiating. Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, W. Church St., Centre Hall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the choir at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, Pa. 16828.
