Dennis William “Billy” Paul, 67, of Northumberland, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born on September 9, 1948, in Phillipsburg, he was the son of William T. and Helen T. McGovern Paul of Karthaus.

Billy was a 1966 graduate of the West Branch Area High School and a 1971 graduate of Penn State University, earning B.S. degree in Mathematics. He was employed as a Tool and Dye Maker at the Forge in Northumberland for over 30 years where he retired.

Billy had a true love of science and learning which he shared with all who knew and loved him. He was known by many as “the professor” because of his vast knowledge base. He enjoyed blue grass music, collecting valuable items, and spending time with his close group of friends and his family.

Billy is survived by his parents, his sister, Donna Furgiuele and her husband, Norman, of Shippenville, a nephew Aaron Furgiuele and his girlfriend, Sampurna Sattar, of State College, a niece Maria Vaughn and her husband, Brett, of Shippenville, a great nephew Maverick Vaughn of Shippenville,.

Also surviving is his Step Grandmother, Betty McGovern, three aunts; Carolyn McGovern of Clearfield, Betty McGovern of Keewaydin, Helen Paul of Karthaus, one uncle, Haskell Renoe of Keewaydin and numerous cousins. Billy also had a very close group of friends in Northumberland Area who he viewed as part of his family. He loved all his family and friends dearly.

Billy proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents Herman and Magdaline McGovern of Karthaus, fraternal grandparents Michael and Irma Paul of Karthaus, aunt, Dorothy Paul, uncle, Kenneth Paul of Karthaus, uncle, Boyd Paul and his wife Barbara of Snow Shoe, uncle, Thomas McGovern and his wife Inez of Karthaus, uncle, Patrick McGovern of Keewaydin, aunt, Adelle-Heichel and her husband Charles of Pottersdale, aunt, Mary Lee Leigey and her husband Thomas of LeCountes Mills, uncle, Sylvester McGovern of Karthaus, aunt, DeSales Renoe of Keewaydin, and uncle, Francis McGovern and his wife Kay of Niagara Falls Pennsylvania.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 9-11am at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Funeral services will be on December 30, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Robert J. Way officiating. Burial will follow at the Keewaydin Cemetery.
