Obituary of Diana G. Nichols , 77

Diana G. Nichols, 77, of State College, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at her residence.

Born August 19, 1933, in Utica, NY, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester W. and Charlotte Parzych Gouse. She married Harlon E. Nichols, husband of fifty-eight years, who survives.

She is survived by two children,Harlon P. Nichols and his wife, Elisabeth, of Longwood, Fl, Laura N. Shaknis and her husband, Craig, of Harrisburg, three grandchildren, Jessica S. Cardosi and her husband, James, of Springfield, Va; Christopher C. Shaknis and his fiancé, Ashley Hill, of Bryn Mawr, Mae P. Nichols, of Longwood, Fl.; and two brothers, S. William Gouse and his wife, Jacquelin, of Richardsville, Va and Ronald P. Gouse and his wife, Cecelia, of New Hartford, NY.

Diana was a 1952 graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University. Early in her life she worked as a Legal Secretary.

She was an avid golfer at Centre Hills Country Club in State College and Citrus Hills Country Club in Hernando, Fl. She enjoyed sewing and needlecrafts and spent winters at their home in Hernando, Fl.

A private funeral mass will be held at a later date for Diana’s immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Diana’s memory may be given to the Centre Crossings Hospice at 2437 Commercial Blvd. State College, PA 16801.
