Donald Grenninger Foust passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall. He was the son of James M. and Elizabeth L. Graden Foust. He was born September 5, 1920, in Spring Mills, PA.

He was a graduate of the Centre Hall Potter Township high school, Class of 1938. When school was out for the year, he worked for some local farmers.

He married Ruth Ellen Witmer Foust, of Pleasant Gap, June 25, 1943. They celebrated 68 years of marriage. He was the father of five children: Luanna Jean Howard of State College; Daniel Glenn and his wife, Linda, of Fort Worth, Texas; Paula Starr and her husband, James Smith of Spring Mills; Pamela Sue and her husband, Clair Hollobaugh, of Centre Hall; Beth Ellen Hartzell of Unionville. He was the grandfather of ten grandchildren; great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren, and a great great grandfather to one great great grandchild.

In August 1943 he was inducted into the Army. He was in the 8th Army Air Corps. After his training was completed, he was stationed in Pottington, England, where he serviced airplanes. He served two-and-one-half years overseas. He spent time in England, France and Italy, where he visited his brother, Guy who was also serving in Italy.

On his return home, he helped his father build Foust Garage where he spent many years in the business. In 1962 he began working for the United States Postal Service in Centre Hall. In 1972 he moved to the State College Post Office, retiring in 1982.

Don was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, and served as custodian with his wife for 17 years.

He was a founding member of the Centre Hall Ambulance Club and member of the Fire Company for many years.

He was Scoutmaster of Centre Hall Boy Scout Troop 20 for 38 years, serving with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He made a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico, with a group of Boy Scouts. He helped 14 Scouts to make their Eagle Awards. Don received many Scouting awards and enjoyed his years in Scouting.

Donald is survived by one sister, Darlene Heller. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Friends will be received from 2 – 3 p. m. and 6 – 8 p. m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a. m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at the church with the Reverend Scott Klimke officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, W. Church St., Centre Hall, immediately following the memorial service.
