Donald P. “Ducky” Doherty, 80, of Snow Shoe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at his home. Born on March 22, 1935, in Clarence, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Olive C. McCully Doherty. On January 13, 1961, in Winchester VA, he married Wava J. Witherow, who passed away on October 28, 2012.

Ducky was a 1952 graduate of Snow Shoe High School. He was a member of the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Chapel in Snow Shoe. Ducky was a self-employed truck driver, retiring in 1997 after 45 years of service. He was a life member of the Snow Shoe Fire Hall.

Ducky loved to travel. He held a pilot’s license. He owned his own plane during the 70’s and would enjoy taking his family for plane rides. After retiring, he bought a Para plane. He learned to fly it by watching a video.

Ducky is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo Snook of Snow Shoe, and son, Paul C. Doherty of Drifting. Also surviving are his two grandsons; Ronald Snook and Sean Doherty and last but not lease, his faithful companion, “Spunky”. Along with his parents and wife, Ducky was preceded in death by his son in-law, Ron G. Snook, his sister, Mary Jo Doherty and a brother, James Doherty. Ducky was the last of his generation.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm with a rosary service at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St, Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11am at the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Chapel in Snow Shoe with Father Mark R. Reid officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Cemetery in Drifting.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Chapel, 102 Church St. Clarence, PA 16829.
