Donald H. Reish, 87, of rural Julian, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Don was born on March 27, 1931, in Fleming, the son of the late J. Russell and Mittie Barton Reish. On April 24, 1952, at Epworth Methodist Church in Harrisburg, he married the former, Shirley A. Stonebraker who preceded him in death on November 4, 2016.

Don is survived by his children, Debbie (Dale) Smoak, of Greenwood, S.C., James Reish (Helena Yearick), of rural Julian, Linda (Rick) Rupp, of Galveston, Texas and Joanne Reish, of Pennsylvania Furnace. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, Dana (Kathryn) Smoak, Laurel Smoak, Amber Reish, Justin Reish, Ryann Rupp, Rae Rupp and Rori Rupp; his three great-grandchildren, Davis Smoak, Delaney Smoak and Brantley Reish. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Dauck, of Middleton Wis., Helen Hale, of Julian, and Patricia (Wayne) Smoyer, of Williamsport.

Don was a 1951 graduate of Bellefonte High School. Don was a member of the Army Reserves from February, 1951 to October, 1953. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army October, 1953, serving in the Korean War. He was discharged October, 1955, with the rank of Sgt 1st class. Don was employed by Bell Telephone and AT&T for 28 years. He was a member of Eagle Valley Community Methodist Church, formerly the Unionville Methodist Church. Don was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

In addition to his parents, and wife he was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Schreffler; and his great-grandson, Jackson Hughes Smoak.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 2-3 p.m., at the Bald Eagle Valley Community United Methodist Church, 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Ronald E. Baker, officiating. Private burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Union Township, Centre County.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bald Eagle Valley Community United Methodist Church, 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, PA 16823 in memory of Donald H. Reish. The family of Donald H. Reish, would like to thank Eagle Valley Personal Care Home for their caring staff.
