Doris B. Dickey, 79 passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Susque-View Nursing Home after a short-term illness from a brain tumor. Doris was born on July 14, 1934 in Romola, Pa., to Raymond ad Alice Young; at the age of 10 her family moved to Monument, Pa.

On September 4, 1952 she married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Dickey moved to Beech Creek where she her home until the time of her passing. Doris and Bob celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2002 and on August 7, 2003 Bob die while vacationing at their summer place in Ontario, Canada.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker; in 1971 when she took a part-time custodian job at McGhee Elementary; several years later she transferred to the full-time custodian job at the Beech Creek Elementary School where she worked until her retirement in June 1996 at the time of the school's closing. After retirement Doris and Bob spent many summers vacationing at their summer place in Canada.

She was an active member of the Beech Creek United Methodist Church until it's closing in 2001; she then became an active member in the Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard, Pa.

She loved spending time with her 3 girls and their families: Cathie (Grover) Graham of Blanchard, Pa., Patti (Willard) Miller of Howard, Pa. and Joy Hackenberg of Howard, Pa.

She was proud of her 4 grandchildren; Chad (Jamie) Miller of Blanchard, Pa; Kristie Graham Patterson (Matt) of State College, Pa; Brad Graham (Monica Skibba) of Mill Hall, Pa and Jody Fox Jolloff (Brandon) of Beech Creek, Pa.

One of her greatest joys were her great-grandchildren who she adored Haylee Miller, Jayden Wert, Hayes Miller and Landry Miller of Blanchard, Melanie Patterson of State College and Alexis Jolloff of Beech Creek. She is also survived by her sister; Janice Toner of Monument, Pa; a brother; Chet (Sis) Young of Orviston, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a daughter; Karen DIckey, in-laws: Lewis and Catherine Dickey, sisters; Annabelle Conklin, Myrtle Etters, Blanche Bumgardner, Edith Yearick and brothers; James Young, Roy Young and Christy Young.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard with the Rev. Stan Johnson officiating. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church.
