Dorothy Ella Vonada, 96 resident of Susque-View,Lock Haven formerly of Lamar, went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2011 at the Lock Haven Hospital.

She was born on May 12, 1915, a daughter of the late Ira and Alma Scantlin Haagen. She married Henry O. Vonada on February 22, 1934, he preceded her in death on October 10, 2000.

She was a former employee of the Nittany Lion Inn. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Jacksonville where she was active in Lay Life and Work Program. She was a 4-H leader for cooking and sewing. Dorothy enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and Making quilts, baking pies for birthdays, fishing, and gardening along with her husband and and canning, freezing their food.

Dorothy is survived by one daughter; Norma L. Dorman and husband George, one son; Paul Vonada and wife Clarabelle. She was preceded in death by two sisters; Pauline F. Haagen on July 31, 2004, eight grandchildren; Duane Dorman and wife Kathy, Debra Dorman, Cynthia Middleton and husband John, Collette Beuther and husband Paul, Douglas Vonada and wife Terri, Linda Weaver and husband Leroy, Alana Rose and husband Leu, Judy Seyler and husband Edward, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard, with the Pastor Nancy Kuhns officiating.
There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Jacksonville Cemetery.
