Obituary of Dorothy Jean Bowersox, 85

Dorothy Jean Bowersox, 85, of Salem Hill Haven, formerly of Smullton, passed from this life on Monday, September 30, 2013. Jean, a daughter of David and Helen Dreamer Weiser was born on February 6, 1928 in Blair County. On November 12, 1947, Jean was united in marriage to Stuart Merle Bowersox who preceded her in death on June 2, 2011.

Jean was a long time employee of Gettig Pharmaceutical in Spring Mills with 33 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and choosing and sending cards to people. Jean is survived by one son, Rodney “Steve” Bowersox (Carol) of Coburn; one sister, Ginny Boob (Donald) of Millheim and one brother, Kurtz Weiser of Rockville, Md. Also surviving are two grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Jean was preceded in death by one daughter, Leslie Diane Homan and her husband, James Homan; a granddaughter, Julie Homan Eckenroth and siblings, Ruthanne Hawk, Fran Cassidy, Cassie and Charlotte Weiser, Evelyn Hammer, and Hank and Donald Weiser.

Family and friends will be received from 10:30 – 11:30 am at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in Rebersburg; to be followed by the funeral service at 11:30 with Rev. Valerie Delooze officiating. Jean will be laid to rest in the Evangelical Cemetery in Rebersburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jean may be given to Salem Hill Haven, 424 Heckman Cemetery Road, Spring Mills, Pa. 16875.
