Obituary of Dorothy K. Bechdel, 85

Dorothy K. Bechdel, 85 of Blanchard, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2009 in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit. She was born in Lock Haven on November 12, 1923, daughter of the late Walter and Addie Shaffer Kammerer.

She and Walter Bechdel married August 3, 1956. He preceded her in death in October 1983.

Dorothy had worked at J.C. Penney, was a past owner of Unkel Joe's Woodshed and also worked for Keystone Central Mountain School District. A member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, Howard, where she was a member of the Friendship Circle, she also was a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing.

Surviving is a daughter; Gail (Andrew) Higle of Alliance, Ohio, a son; Scott Walter (Dawn) Bechdel of Blanchard, four grandchildren; Joshua, (Caitlin Smith) and Larry Bechdel and Johnathon and Natalie Higle.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard, Pa. with the Rev. Andrew Higle (Dorothy's son-in-law) officiating. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery, Howard Twp., Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009.
