Edgar A. Treaster, 73, of Centre Hall, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Mount Nittany Medical Center at State College.

He was born March 20, 1942 in Milroy, PA; a son of the late Charles Edgar and Carrie Lee Reed Treaster.

On July 17, 1965, in Rebersburg, he married Peggy E. Hubler who survives at home.

Edgar attended Penns Valley High School and earned his GED while in the Navy. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1959 to 1963 flying recognizance missions.

Most of his career involved cars, car sales and transportation. He was known through out Centre and Mifflin counties for his sales ability and knowledge of cars. His most notable car sale was a 1969 Shelby GT 500 which was stored for many years, and auctioned after the owner’s death. He sold the car in 1969 as an employee of Beasley Ford, and was able to authenticate the car and give its history at the estate sale. For many years prior to his retirement, he was a salesman for Miller Motors in Centre Hall. He also served as a driver for Penn State Fleet Services and as a school bus drive for many years. As a bus test driver, he often referred to himself a “crash dummy”.

He was a member of the Protestant faith, American Legion Post 779, Centre Hall; Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1600, and the Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge # 537, Centre Hall.

Mr. Treaster loved to make people laugh, always had a joke to tell and loved to be the life of the party. His most cherished time was spending time with his grandsons and attending their sporting events. He brought cheer to other dialysis patients and made calendars of all the nurses.

Surviving Mr. Treaster in addition to his wife, is a daughter Erin Wamboldt (Benjamin) of Tampa Florida; one son Douglas Treaster of Spring Mills; two grandsons, Colton Allen and Dylan Thomas Treaster; one sister Joyce Gantz of Milroy; one brother Richard L Treaster of Johns Creek, GA.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Wagner and Beverly Everly.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p. m. Sunday, January 31, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The Funeral will be at 10:00 am Monday, February 1, 2016 at the funeral home with the Reverend David Downer officiating. Burial will be in the reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, West Church St. Centre Hall, PA, with Military honors provided by American Legion Post 779, Centre Hall.
