Edna S. Harpster, 77, of Pine Grove Mills, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born August 16, 1932, in Pine Grove Mills, she was a daughter of the late Willis A. and Bertha (Gates) Schilling. On June 14, 1952, she married George E. Harpster, who survives.

Edna was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Grove Mills for over 50 years. She was a member of Baileyville Grange and the Avon President's Club, having served as a local sales representative for 51 years. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Peoples National Bank and the United Federal Savings and Loan Bank in State College. In both businesses, she was loved and respected by her co-workers and customers.

Edna was an avid and gifted knitter and seamstress who enjoyed blessing her family and friends by sharing these talents with them through the cherished gifts she gave. She was happiest spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters and their families, Deborah Eckess and her husband, Jon, Glenda Yocum and her husband, Scott, Karen Campanis and her husband, Nicholas, and Charlotte Harpster-Kulp and her husband, Scott; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Doris Barto, Lois Barto, and Janet (James) Rider.

Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Koch Funeral Home in State Collage. A funeral worship service will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Grove Mills, Internment will follow at Graysvllle Cemetery.
