Our dearly loved and cherished mother and grandmother, Elaine Ellen Benton Hall, 96, passed quietly from this life into the arms of our Savior on July 31, 2013, in State College. Elaine was born on April 6, 1917 in Pine Glen. She was a daughter of the late Jesse Lorenzo and Martha Ellen Fye Benton. On September 25, 1937, she married her high school sweetheart, William Henry "Bill" Hall, Sr. who passed away on June 10, 2010.

Elaine was a 1936 graduate of Snow Shoe High School where she was the salutatorian. She worked as a nanny until her marriage. She was a homemaker, and after her children were raised, she worked at Penn State and in various positions within the Hall family businesses.

Elaine was a great cook and loved to bake pies and other goodies for her family and friends. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed many items of clothing for her family and herself. She was active in the PTA and performed in several musicals at the school including "The Belle of the West" in which she had the lead. She played the piano, organ and guitar and taught her children all the old songs she had learned as she was growing up, songs that they still sing today. Elaine and Bill instilled in their children a love of all kinds of music. The family often sang together, especially when they were traveling. Elaine was very creative and made many beautiful items for her home and worked tirelessly to assist with fundraising events for the Mountaintop area.

Elaine is survived by her four children; Sandra E. Harris and her husband, DeVerle, of Tucson, AZ, Audrey J. Butler and her husband, Steward, of Okatie, SC, William H. Hall, Jr. and his wife, Janice of Windsor, NY and Daniel W. Hall and his wife, Sharon of Snow Shoe. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. We will miss her presence our lives. However we are profoundly grateful for her life; her sense of humor, her smile, her music, her sweet spirit, her love and her example of righteous living. "Her children arise up, and call her blessed."

Along with her parents and her husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her 6 brothers, 6 sisters, a grandson, and a great granddaughter. She is the last of her generation.
