Eleanor D. “Dobie” “Meemom” Miller, 88, of State College, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born January 16, 1925, in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Riddall Dobelbower, Sr. and Deborah Downing (Lyon) Dobelbower.

She was a 1947, School of Theatre Arts, Penn State graduate and former member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Bellefonte.

Eleanor retired from Penn State as the House Manager for the Center for Performing Arts, after 22 years of service. She was a member of the Lemont Artist Guild, the Penn State Retired Faculty/Staff Club, the Nittany Lion Club and the Lady Lion Cager Club where she remained an avid football and girl’s basketball fan and attended games until 2011.

Eleanor's greatest accomplishment was putting both of her girls through college. She loved spending time with her daughters, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, going to the beach, and spoiling her cats.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Downing (Jennifer Lee) of Gum Spring, VA and Catherine “Katie” Rung (Donald) of State College; one brother Ralph Riddall “Mike” Dobelbower, Jr. of East Aurora, NY; two grandchildren Austin D. Cobb of Richmond, VA and Rebecca E. Genghini (James) of Westmont, NJ; two great grandchildren Michael A. and Thomas A. Genghini; many beloved nieces and nephews and her two beloved cats, Little Miss Muffet and Scooter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Dobelbower and a brother and sister-in-law, William and Rosalie
Beatty.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM, Monday, September 30, 2013 at the funeral home with Reverend Douglas Elder officiating. Interment will follow in Centre County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Eleanor’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
