Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Pettengill, 81

Elizabeth Ann Pettengill, "Betty Ann," 81, of State College, joined her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 7 p.m. On her final day she was surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born on March 29, 1928 in Philipsburg, to John C. and Clara V. Williams Nason. She graduated Philipsburg High School in 1946 and married her high school sweetheart, William G. Pettengill, on March 12, 1947. They enjoyed 58 years together until Bill's death in 2005.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Suzanne Rowin and husband, Brice, Billie Reed and husband, Clayton, and John Pettengill and wife, Susan; her grandchildren and their spouses: Kim and Dave Wells, Laurie Agostinelli, J.R. and Rebecca Reed, William and Dana Reed, Kaitlyn Pettengill, and Joshua Pettengill, and great-grandchildren, Tarin, David, Lauren, Paul, Sean, and Clara Wells, Ian and Noah Graham, Edward III, and Louis Agostinelli, Timmy, Raylene, Amanda, Ryan, and Luke Reed; and by her sister, Martha Hamberger, of Lock Haven. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2005; her daughter, Judith, in 1948; and her brother, Jack Nason, in 1946, missing in action in WWII.

Betty worked for the State College Area School District and later for Penn State University at Shields Building. She was a member of the State College Free Methodist Church for many years.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Koch Funeral Home and will be officiated by Pastor Dave Spaugh of Bald Eagle Baptist Church. Burial be at Centre County Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
