Our loving mother, Elizabeth D. Shaffer, 87, of Millheim, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on April 18, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Elizabeth was a daughter of the late Arthur and Marie Singer Baroni. On April 19, 1950 she was united in marriage to Elmer I. Shaffer, who preceded her in death September 4, 2001.

Elizabeth was employed at Cami Fashions, aka the Bra Factory in Millheim and retired from there with 30 years of service. Upon her retirement though, Elizabeth did not just sit down in her rocking chair. Instead; at 73 years of age, she returned to school and attained her GED so she could study to receive a CNA certificate, which she achieved with no problem. Elizabeth continued working for Comfort Keepers for 12 more years as a caregiver. She seemed to have boundless energy and was always so cheerful. She loved anything to do with the Renaissance Era. Elizabeth was an excellent seamstress, making, repairing and altering clothing for many friends and family members. She was a member of the St. Kateri Tekawitha Catholic Church in Spring Mills where she lended a helping hand in many capacities. Our mother was an “angel to all” and we will sorely miss her.

Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Teri A. Rosenbaum (Donald) of State College and Patricia A. McDaid (Barry) of Washington, Pa.; one son, Ronald I. Shaffer of Millheim; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Fred, Arthur and Russell Baroni.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 1-2 pm at the St. Kateri Tekawitha Catholic Church, Rte. 45, Spring Mills. The funeral mass will follow at 2:00 pm with Father George Jakopac officiating. Elizabeth will be laid to rest in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte.
