Obituary of Elizabeth Hammer, 95

Evelyn Elizabeth Hammer, of Lancaster, PA passed away on May 19, 2013 at Hamilton Arms Center in her 95th year. Born in Logan, PA she was a daughter of the late D. Dwight and Helen Kreamer Weiser.

Evelyn was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lancaster. For many years she was the buyer for Logan’s Clothing Store in downtown Lancaster. After her retirement, she managed the gift shop at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital even after she turned 80. She also volunteered at Republican headquarters.

She is survived by a son, Allen Drew Hammer (Karen) of Monroeville; a son-in-law, G. Raymond Warfel, (husband of Evelyn’s deceased daughter, Phyllis) of Lancaster; 2 sisters, Jean Bowersox of Salem Hill Haven, Spring Mills, and Virginia Boob of Millheim,; a brother, Kurtz Weiser of Rockville, MD; 6 grandchildren: Lori, wife of Steve Austin of Mountville, RaeAnn, wife of Pablo Gomez and Dave Warfel, both of Lancaster, Kelly Perry of Greensburg, and Kimberly Hess and Kristy Hammer Garcia both of Pittsburgh and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to her daughter, Phyllis Warfel, Evelyn was predeceased by a son, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Granddaughters and caregivers, Lori and RaeAnn would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hamilton Arms Center for the care and compassion which was extended to their grandmother while she resided there.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. in Millheim on Saturday, June 1st at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Millheim. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA. 17603.
