Eloise W. Remsberg Hunt, 98, of State College, formerly of Carlisle, ended her earthly journey after a short illness, on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon.

Born January 4, 1916, in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Caroline Hertzler Williams. She was the widow of Henry C. Remsberg, to whom she was married for 40 years and of G. Arthur Hunt who died in 2001.

She is survived by one son, Philip H. Remsberg (Rosemary) of Laurel, MD, one daughter, Terry Remsberg Krabill (Joseph) of Huntingdon; one step-son, David Hunt (Nancy); three grandchildren, Kerstin Krabill (Mark), Kimberly Remsberg and Dan Remsberg; four great-grandchildren, Kelsi, Gabrielle, Justin and Emma and one great-great-grandson, Declan; six nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Marian Morgan. In addition to her parents and husbands’, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Williams, two sisters, Elizabeth Williams Shiner and Katharine Williams Ward, one step-son, Jim Hunt and one grandson, Randy Krabill.

She graduated in 1933 from Carlisle High School. She was also a 1937 graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia.

Eloise was employed at the Carlisle Hospital, the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, as an endoscopic nurse in a private practice and the Bosler Library. She enjoyed making all her clothes with VOGUE patterns in her free time.

She was an active member of the First United Church of Christ, in Carlisle, where she also taught children’s Sunday school. She was a volunteer in many organizations, including as a former board member of the YWCA, the Tri-County Homemakers and the Carlisle Day Care Center. Eloise was a supporting member of many conservation, peace and justice groups.

Although Carlisle was home for most of her life, she was a resident at the Juniper Village at Brookline for the last six and a half years, where she made many new friends and appreciated the support of all the staff.

Services will be private.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville.

In lieu of flowers and because of her active support of charities, especially Heifer International, Southern Poverty Law Center and Habitat for Humanity, friends may give to the charity of their choosing.
