Elwood W. Confer, 78, of Potters Mills, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Hearthside Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in State College.
He was born February 6, 1936 in Potter Township, Centre County, a son of the late Wilbur E. and Tenchia Zettle Confer.
Earlier in life he was married to the former Sara Forshey.
Mr. Confer was employed at Penn Nursery on Seven Mountains for several years, and later in food service at the Warnock Dining Hall at Penn State University until his retirement. He also served as the sexton for the Sprucetown United Methodist Church Cemetery at Potters Mills for many years.
Surviving Elwood is a son Fredrick Confer; one sister Bernice M Grove of rural Spring Mills and several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Moyer and Dorothy Braught and a brother Alvin B. (Sam) Confer.
Friends will be received from 2 – 3 p. m. Monday, September 29, 2014, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service 226 S. Pennsylavnia Ave., Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with the Reverend Bradley S. Dixon officiating. Burial will be in the Sprucetown United Methodist Church Cemetery, Potters Mills.
