Elwood V. (Woody) Struble, 75, of State College, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

He was born December 8, 1937, in College Twp., a son of the late Glenn and Ruth M. Walker Struble.

On March 1, 1957, he married Lucille M. Reese who survives at home.

After high school, Elwood served in the U. S. Army reserves for several years. He was employed by Ruetgers-Neese Chemical Company for forty years serving as a truck driver and a maintenance person, retiring in 2001 as a maintenance supervisor.

Early in life he attended Houserville United Methodist Church. A person of varied interests, he was a member of the State College Radio Control Club, serving as field marshal for the club. He enjoyed flying radio controlled air planes and teaching others to fly the planes successfully. He was involved in the Delta Darts Program. Riding motorcycles, going to tractor pulls, attending antique farm machinery shows, and watching sports and shows like Storage Wars were among his favorite pastimes.

While he enjoyed all of those things, his real love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren; and having his dog Rusty and his cat Peanut by his side. His family will always remember him for his passion for family, and his dependability whenever needed for any reason by a family member. That dependability and generosity also extended to others who needed a hand. He was always there, and willing to help.

Surviving in addition to his wife Lucille are three sons, Donald L. Struble and his wife Linda of Aaronsburg, Edward V. Struble and his wife Linda of State College, and C. Bruce Struble and his wife Lori of Lemont; three grandchildren, Sierra Struble and her husband Chad Richard, Travis (T. J.) Struble and Leah Struble; two great grandchildren, Diezel and Ayla Struble; two sisters, Sally Ripka of State College, and Judith Struble Smith of Indiana, PA; four brothers, William Struble of Boalsburg, Kenneth Struble of State College, James Struble of Port Matilda, and Gerald Struble of State College; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Matthew Wigfield.
