Ernest Emil Ostendorf of State College, formerly of Edwardsville, Illinois, ascended on June19, 2013 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center after 95 full years. Born May 10th, 1918 in Glen Carbon, Illinois, he was the son of John Ostendorf and Rosalie (Touzinsky) Ostendorf.

On December 12, 1943, he married Ella Linda Klenke Ostendorf, also of Edwardsville. He was the father of two children: David and Bonnie Kay. He is survived by his wife, Ella, his daughter and her husband Bill Dripps of State College. He is also survived by 6 grand-children: Beth Dripps of State College, Becky and her husband Rhys John of State College, and Michelle Hough and her husband Daniel of Alexandria, Virginia, Stephen Ostendorf and his wife Carrol of Fort Mills, South Carolina, Sarah and her husband, Ray Michaels of Lansing Michigan, and Susan Ostendorf and her fiance' Ryan Patino of Lansing, Michigan. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Anne, Clark, Karis, Elyse, Lucy, Rhys, and Ray. In addition, he is survived by a sister-in-law, Leona Ostendorf of Springfield, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his son David and his daughter-in-law Kalene of Lansing, Michigan, his brother George Ostendorf of Edwardsville, Illinois and his sister, Sylvia Weber of Staunton,, Illinois.

He worked over 45 years at Granite City Steel in Granite City, Illinois. He was drafted into the army during World War II, serving overseas for 4 years in the Aleutian Islands. He and his wife, Ella, lived on a farm in Pin Oak Township until they moved to State College, Pennsylvania to be next door to their daughter and family.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Alhambra, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to DiscipleMakers, Inc., P.O. Box 74, State College, PA 16804 or Faith Baptist Church of State College, 647 Valley Vista Drive, State College, PA 16803. A memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church in State College on June 29, 2013 at 10:30 am.
