Esther A. Jackson, 80, of Centre Hall, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.

She was born May 23, 1930, in Potter Township, a daughter of the late William D. and Grace Irene McClenahan Confer.

On December 24, 1952 she married Ivan Eyer who preceded her in death. On November 29, 1982, she married Richard Jackson who preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1985.

Esther graduated from Centre Hall-Potter High School in 1948.

Mrs. Jackson worked at Gettig Engineering for fifteen years, and worked for Centre Engineering as an electrode printer for sixteen years. In addition to her other work and being a homemaker she worked as a bartender at the American Legion at Centre Hall and the VFW at Potters Mills.

Although she spent most of her time working, she was a member of Centre Hall Senior Citizens; a thirty five + year member of the American Legion Post 779 Aux., and the Aux. of the VFW at Potters Mills, and enjoyed raising flowers.

Surviving her are a daughter Brenda K. Young and her husband Clarence of Julian, a son William R. Eyer of Centre Hall; four sisters, Shirley Karout of Baltimore, Martha Lightner of Bellefonte, Lois Kuhns of Milroy and Linda Neil of Lamar; one brother Richard Confer of Aaronsburg; three grandchildren and three great granddaughters; two step grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren.

Friends will be received Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 6 – 8 p. m at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be at 1:00 p. m. Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the funeral home with the Reverend Michael Hoskins officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery Upper Georges Valley, Spring Mills, PA.
