Obituary of Eugene B 'Gene' Long, 80

Eugene B. “Gene” Long, 80, of Centre Hall, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on October 3, 1937, in Madisonburg, he was the son of the late Evans and Daisy Hook Long. On August 11, 1962, in Spring Mills, he married Ruby M. Strouse, who survives at home.

Gene was of the Lutheran Faith. He was employed at the Creamery at Penn State, retiring in October 1988 after 35 years of service.
Gene enjoyed camping at Hidden Valley Campground and at the Centre County Grange Fair. He liked to go fishing and hunting, watching NASCAR racing, watching the Pittsburgh Steeler football games, and watching old western movies. He also enjoyed word search puzzles.
Gene is survived by the love of his life, Ruby, at home, one son, Brian E. Long and his wife, Joy A, of Millheim, one sister, Ruth Moore of Centre Hall.

Gene is also survived by the two greatest joys of his life, his two granddaughters; Lauren J. & Larissa M. both of Millheim.
Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori J. Long on September 5, 1985 and one sister, Dorothy Beebe.
In accordance to Gene’s wishes, there will be no public services. All services will be private.
