Eugene C. Shawver, 93, of Mingoville, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at home. Born May 18, 1916 in Smithtown, he was a son of the late Oliver Shawver and Elsie Pressler Shawver. On Dec. 24, 1938, he married Bessie L. Witherite, who preceded him in death April 16, 2002.
Eugene attended the Penns Valley Area School System. He worked as a master plumber for over 37 years. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and handiwork.
He is survived by three sons; M. Donald Shawver of Mingoville, Robert E. Shawver of Centre Hall, and Gaylord D Shawver of Spring Mills. He is also survived by one brother, Leon Shawver of Aaronsburg, and one sister, Frances Herman of Olivia, Minn. Also surviving him are four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Guy Shawver.
There will be a public visitation held Saturday June 27, 2009, from 12 -2 pm at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., 206 N Spring St., Bellefonte. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Duane Bardo officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Meyer Cemetery in Benner Township.
