Frances E. Eyer, 98, of State College, died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born April 5, 1916, in Williamsburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Ida May Showalter Eastep. On December 27, 1941, in Williamsburg, she married Charles L. Eyer who preceded her in death on December 22, 1990.

She is survived by nine nieces and nephews, Cay Griel of State College, Merle Eyer of Pine Grove Mills, Sandy Eastep of Florida, Alan Eastep of Arizona, Debi Eastep of West Virginia, Rob Eastep of Virginia, Patty Lewis of Ohio, Barbara Hunt of New York, James Eastep of Texas and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one nephew, John Hill.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Juniata College in Huntingdon.

Frances was a Home Economics Teacher for the Franklin Joint Consolidated School in Warriors Mark.

She was a member of the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday school. Frances was also a member of the Warriors Mark-Franklin Fire Company Auxiliary and the Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary. She was a substitute teacher for many years and she managed the Warriors Mark Elementary School cafeteria.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College with the Reverend P. Stevens Lynn officiating.

Burial will be in Gatesburg Lutheran Cemetery.
