Frances Mae McCoy, 62, of State College, passed away after an honorable, courageous, and brave fight with cancer on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township.

Born on August 19, 1950 in Philipsburg, she is a daughter of the late Glenn Edward Sr. and Catherine (Hemmes) McCoy.

Frances was a 1968 graduate of State College Area High School.

She is survived by a long time companion, William G. “Bill” Ritter of State College.

Ms. McCoy was employed as an Accountant at HRI.

She was of the Christian faith and was raised in the State College Christian Church.

Frances was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, where she held many prominent offices and was awarded as an Exemplary Employee for HRI.

She was an avid Penn State Lady Lions Basketball fan and had attended many games with Bill; and also enjoyed attending the Grange Fair and many arts and crafts shows in the Centre County region.

In addition to her companion, she is survived by four siblings, Sandra Daugherty (Glen) of Knoxville, TN, Glenn E. McCoy Jr. of Bellefonte, Roger M. McCoy of Port Matilda, and Jennifer L. Turnbaugh (Joseph) of San Antonio, TX; six nieces and nephews, Christopher G. Daugherty, Cassandra D. Nicholson, Catherine M. Heiser, Brittany A. Heiser, Ray L. Heiser, and Hannah G. Heiser; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her constant canine companion, Molly.

Family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Services at 11 AM on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Interment will directly follow the funeral services at Centre County Memorial Park.
