Obituary of Frances Sowko, 92

Frances “Pete” N. Sowko, 92, of State College, died peacefully Friday, November 20, 2015, at Juniper Village at Brookline.

Born October 21, 1923, in State College, she was the daughter of the late Justus G. and Margaret Ralston Neidigh. On September 13, 1947 in State College she married Raymond C. Sowko, who preceded her in death on November 5, 1999.

She is survived by her son, Michael N. Sowko and his wife, Michele, of State College; grandson, Justin N. Sowko and his wife, Meghann, of Valencia, PA; and granddaughter, Maggi E. Sowko and her fiancé, Ryan DePaul, of Chester Springs.

Pete graduated from State College High School and attended Pennsylvania State University. She was a volunteer for the Indiana Hospital and the Penn State Alumni Association and was an Indiana, PA Welcome Wagon Hostess. Pete was an avid Penn State Fan. She enjoyed collecting hippos, playing bridge, arts & crafts, and her evening scotch.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
