Francis G. Plozner, 92, of Bellefonte, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Juniper Village in State College. Born on August 29, 1922, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Moser) Plozner.

He married Rose (Corage) Plozner, who survives at home.

Francis worked as a supervisor for Domtar Corporation.

Francis served in the United States Army. For his service during World War II he received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Francis had a strong devotion to St. John’s Catholic Church, where he was the head usher for 37 years. He was a lifetime member of the Undines Fire Company, VFW Post #1600, Moose Lodge #206, and the Pleasant Gap American Legion. He was an avid card player but his first priority was his family.

Along with his wife, Rose, he is survived by one son, John (Linda) Plozner of Bellefonte and three daughters; Cindy (Harry) Sturcken of Fairport NY, Sue (Terry) Royer of Pleasant Gap, Nancy (Terry) Fisher of Centre Hall, eight grandchildren; Elizabeth (Josh) Plozner Chalfa, Matthew (Beth) Royer, Michael (Jennifer) Sturcken, Jeremy (Heather) Royer, Todd Sturcken, Ryan, Austin and Nicholas Fisher, four great grandchildren; Gavin Chalfa, Andrew and Liliana Royer and Henry Sturcken.

Francis is preceded in death by two brothers; Ernest and Tobias and four sisters; Palma, Virginia, Ida, and Mary.
There will be a public visitation held on Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 6pm until 8pm, at the Wetzler Funeral Home in Bellefonte. There will be a Christian Wake service held following the visitation at 8pm at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 1, 2015, at 10:00am, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte, with Father George Jakopac officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Angel Fund at St. John’s Catholic School at 116 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
