Obituary of Gary Philips, 78

Gary L. Philips, 78, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Greenhills Village in State College. Born on May 25, 1939, in Milroy, he was the son of the late Frank and Erma Florey Philips. On November 27, 1965, he married Grace Kline who passed away in 2001.

Gary worked for the State of Pennsylvania in the Nursey department. He held a lot of different positions at the nurseys and retired after many years of service. Gary was of the Protestant faith.

Gary enlisted in the United States Army in 1961. He was an excellent marksman and received the Marksman Medal. He was honorably discharged after serving.

Gary was a life member of the Centre Hall Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Moose Lodge 143 in Lewistown and the Pine Grove Mills VFW Post 5825.

Gary has no surviving family members. He was the last of his generation. Along with his parents and wife, Gary was preceded in death by his son, John E. Philips, and three brothers; Donald, Clarence, and Arthur.

Gary’s wishes were to have no public services. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Spruce Town Cemetery in Centre Hall.
