George Allen Shouey, 59, of Bellefonte, went to be with the lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Born on Jan. 5, 1950 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Harold R. and Charlotte C. Bloom Shouey of Centre Hall. On Aug. 19 he married Barbara Tressler, of Bellefonte who survives at home.

George worked at Penn State for 31 years and was a foster parent for 15 years. His passion in life was his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and riding his motorcycle with his family.

Along with his wife Barb Shouey, he is survived by two sons, Joe and his wife Kelly, of Spring Mills, Gib Shouey, of Bellefonte; one fosterson, Justin Bennett, of Philipsburg; and one daughter Amanda and her husband Doug Nichols, of Bellefonte. Also surviving are three sisters; five brothers; two granddaughters, Taylor and Zoey Nichols, of Bellefonte; and a grandson, Carter Shouey, of Spring Mills; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Eugene Shouey, of Bellefonte and Thomas Shouey, of Centre Hall.

There will be a public visitation held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 10-11 a.m., the time of the service at the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Stephen R. Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township.
