George “BoBo” Almashie, Sr., 83, of Clarence, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Mt Nittany Medical Center. Born on October 14, 1927, in Clarence, he was the son of the late Stephen and Anna Pinchock Almashie. On September 27, 1952, he married Betty J. Royer who passed away on February 27, 2011.
BoBo attended the Snow Shoe High School. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Clarence. He was enlisted in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. For his service, he received the Combat Infantry Badge, District Unit Citation, and the Korean Service Medal w/2 Bronze service stars.
BoBo worked in the parts department in both the Lock Haven and Quehanna plants for Piper Aircraft. He had over 30 years of service before retiring.
BoBo was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks in Renovo, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Renovo, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5644 in Snow Shoe, the Clarence American Legion Post 813, Clarence Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1565, Young Democratic Club in Clarence, and the Snow Shoe Volunteer Fire Co.
BoBo enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, hunting, fishing, being in the outdoors, golfing, watching baseball on TV, and spending time with his family. He was an avid Penn State and Steelers’s fan.
BoBo is survived by his children, BoBo Almashie Jr and his wife, Dee, of Moshannon, Linda L. Bressler, and her husband, John, of Clarence, Brenda L. Trude and her companion, Mack, of Bellefonte, Tina M. Almashie and her companion, Todd, also of Bellefonte, and Stephen M. Almashie, and his wife, Maggie, of State College. Also surviving is one brother, John Almashie of Snow Shoe, six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five step great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, BoBo was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and one great grandchild.
Friends will be received on Monday, May 23, 2011 from 1-3 & 5-7pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Funeral services will be held on Monday, may 23, 2011, at 7pm, at the funeral home, with Pastor Cathy Dittman officiating. Full military honors will be given following the funeral services.
