George Edwin Jordan, 85, of State College, died Friday, February 18, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born December 14, 1925, in Cloe, Jefferson County, Pa., he was a son of the late Bertha Mae Jacobs Jordan and C. Jenks Jordan. He was the youngest of seven children and was the last of his immediate family.

He attended Punxsutawney High School. He married Esther Almeda Bowers on June 1, 1947, with whom he celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2010.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Roberta Hoffert, wife of Richard Hoffert of Macungie and Karen Sandoe, wife of Kenneth Sandoe of Myerstown. Also surviving are five grandsons, Matthew D. Hoffert and wife Erin of Fairfax, Virginia, Andrew R. Hoffert and wife Erika of Wemersville, Adam J. Sandoe and wife Kimberly of Newmanstown, Joseph W. Sandoe of Myerstown and fiancé Corbi McGregor, and Lucas C. Sandoe of Myerstown. In addition, he had two great-grandchildren, Jakob Andrew and Norah Grace Hoffert, children of Andrew and Erika Hoffert.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Mae Robbins, Grace Jordan, Florence Jordan, Martha Miller; and two brothers, Fred Jordan and Robert Jordan. George was a fifty-year member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in State College, life member of the Third Ward Hose Company of Clearfield, life member of Clearfield Elks Lodge #540, member of State College Masonic Lodge #700, member of Scottish Rite Chapter, Council, Commandary and 32nd degree member of the Consistory Valley of Altoona, Jaffa Shrine of Altoona, Past President of Centre County Shrine Club, Past Grand Tall Cedar of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Past Foundation Trustee of M.D. Cedar Foundation.

He was employed by the A&P Tea Co. for 37 years, 25 years as Meat Department manager; and by AFLAC Insurance Co. for 24 years.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A Masonic service will be held at 8:45 p.m.

Additional visitation time will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, February 21, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. His funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church

Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
