Obituary of George J. Hauser, 84

George J. Hauser, 84, of Snow Shoe, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Centre Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on September 24, 1925, in Snow Shoe, he is the son of the late William E. & Olive E. Moore Hauser. On August 20, 1948, in Snow Shoe, he married Barbara B. Cole, who survives at home.
George is a 1944 graduate from Snow Shoe High School. He served in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster during WWII. For his years of service, George was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon (1 Star), the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. George worked as a Skilled Carpenter for J.H.Fance Inc., retiring on January 31, 1991 after 49 years of service.
George was a member of the Mountaintop Christian Alliance Church, where he serving as a Lifetime Elder and a member of the Clarence American Legion Post 813. He enjoyed working with wood. He made many pieces of furniture for his home, as well as for his children’s homes. He loved the outdoors, going hunting and fishing, and traveling with his wife. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
George is survived by his wife, by his son, Michael J Hauser and his wife Anne and his daughter Peggy L Shope and her husband Kenneth all of Snow Shoe. Also surviving are his five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 11am at the Mountaintop Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 675 E. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe with Pastor Douglas Mottin officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Karthaus.
