Obituary of George P. Reed "Pap" , 87

George P. "Pap" Reed, 87, of Bellefonte, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, College Township.

Born Sept. 10, 1922, in Mt. Green, Metal Township, Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Ralph and Elsie Guyer Reed. His first wife, the former Alice E. McCool, whom he married May 27, 1946, preceded him in death Jan. 21, 1989. His second wife, the former Janie Fredriksen, whom he married April 8, 1990, preceded him in death Nov. 5, 1998.

He was a laborer at Clasters. Mr. Reed was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a life member of the Milesburg American Legion Post #893, wherehe had served as chaplain and was past commander. He loved to shoot pool and play poker with his family and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary L. Reese (Dave), of Bellefonte, and Judy K. Lose (Dan), of Centre Hall; four sons, Rickey G. Reed (Beatrice), of Julian, David W. Reed (Thelma), of Bellefonte, Randy L. Reed (Tammy), of Bellefonte, and James A. Reed (Carol), of Bellefonte; a sister, Geraldine (Aunt Sis) Miley, of Fannettsburg; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Friends will be received Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, from 7-9 p.m., at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the funeral home, with Pastor William T. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Advent Cemetery, Boggs Township, Centre County.
