George R. Kurtz, Sr., 89, of Milroy, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 4, 1920, in Siglerville a son of the late Thomas Albert and Catherine Edith (Fultz) Kurtz. He was married to Eva M. (Presto) Kurtz, who preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 2003. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, 188th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was an electrician with Bethlehem Steel, Naginey, Freedom Forge, Burnham, American Viscose, and Barnett's Electric, Milroy.
He is survived by two sisters, Faye Wheeler, of Ohio and Lottie Thompson, of Huntingdon; and three sisters-in-law, Frances Bubb, of Milroy, Dora Presto, of Milroy, and Rose Crozier, of Centre Hall. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son, George R. Kurtz, Jr.; sisters, Lola Kurtz, Mary Goss, Vivian Wagner; and brothers, John Kurtz, Herbert H. Kurtz, Charles E. "Hen" Kurtz, and Sam Kurtz.
Funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at 12 p.m., noon, at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with Marshall Deckard officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
