Gertrude L. Meeker, 91, of Bellefonte, died at Centre Crest Nursing Home on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009. She was born on Aug. 17, 1918, in Lawrence Township, Clearfield County, to Van Dorn and Emma Hoffman Meeker.
She graduated from Centre Hall High School and worked for 30 years as a mechanical illustrator in the Graphic Arts Department for the United States Navy in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1980, at which time she moved to State College.
She is survived by her son, Delbert W. Meeker and his wife, Rose, of Bellefonte; two sisters, Edith M. Sexton, of Lancaster and Beatrise (Betty) Borger, of Hanover; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Woodrow Meeker and James W. Meeker; and a sister, Isabel L. Shape. She was a member of the Christian Science Church.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Her funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.
